Love's Planet

2017

One cold January evening. And there,

Love's Planet

Venus bright eve'ng sky
Though (I) was born with morning star
Love's planet rules far.

In a world that seems hopeless, and I am NOT referring to the US elections: here's a message to every one that is far better than anything I can write from the late Jack Layton's last letter to Canadians

"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world."

Happy 2017!

I see, love

In a world full of anger, I choose love.

A writer friend wrote an article about a dating website in the Telegraph. A site for the well to do, with a line about a New Yorker being drawn to someone from London because he was attracted to "European women and their effortless sophistication" :)

Another friend is going through a divorce. Where is there love in the world?

What are we attracted to, and how is that compatible with attaining love? From an older article How to Heal your Heart
Now would be a good time, I think, to ask the question, is there love in the world, and how do we heal our broken hearts?
When I wrote 'Man From Atlan' in 1974 I saw that humanity's greatest challenges would come through its relationships: our relationships with each other, and our relationships with ourselves.
Now, I think it's a lot more complex than that. How do we, given the state of the world today, find love? Should we not see how we relate to our environment before we can even find a relationship? Do you love your self, did you see your parents love each other, do you love others? Are you passionate about something, anything??

There are those who want it all: Love, attraction, family. There are some who, because of their own history, don't trust it at all. The current environment, of anger, youth alienation, sexual orientation, makes it that much harder. Sure, people still meet and fall in love. Except it sometimes doesn't last. Why is that?

What of the role of karma? Family, children, loved ones all come with their own, um, baggage. How do you overcome this?

I used to joke how I was operating a 'dating service'. Sure, I was the agency by which many people met others. But they still had to, probably more often because I was in the background, work on their own um issues.

What is love? Is it, as written here Is it Love or is it Confusion?
two individuals who maintain their separate identities, yet intimately join together based on mutual interests, excitement, enjoyment, the sharing of novel or stimulating experiences, and a shared capacity to learn from the negative emotions they experience.
like Jimmy Hendrix sang in Love,  or Confusion?

Oh, my mind is so mixed up, goin’ round ‘n’ round
Most there be all these colors without names,
Without sounds?
My heart burns with feelin’ but
Oh! But my mind is cold and reeling.
Is this love, baby
Or is it confusion?

Shakespeare , the greatest writer on love Shakespeare's Treatment of Love and Marriage

"The Shakespearean world is impressed, as a whole, with an unmistakable joy in healthy living. This tells habitually as a pervading spirit, a contagious temper, not as a creed put forward, or an example set up. It is as clear in the presentment of Falstaff or lago, as of Horatio or Imogen. And nowhere is it clearer than in his handling of the relations between men and women". (Edited to add: applied equally to all genders and orientations. We are talking about love and relationships after all, and we are all, in need of love).

There is his ideal love:
Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
Or how do we remove the blocks that prevent us from finding love?
Our remedies oft in ourselves do lie
Which we ascribe to heaven.
I wrote "Man From Atlan" when I was trying to find, not love, but balance. "Oh, you're looking for a white girl", said the Scottish lady psychic, Betty Robinson of Toronto, who was my friend. "Well, it won't be, because she's going to be Egyptian" :)

"Not true", I said. "It's that I know she'll be 'white'. And sure enough, she was, someone who I remembered from a past life in Egypt, then another who inspired me to write Man From Atlan, a novel about past lives and searching through many lives for the soul mate.

The Beginning
I'm afraid of being alone, I cried.
You need not be afraid, he said in his infinite kindness.
There will always be Love..

The End
And it was this, above all, that had come back to him.
Love.
~The Man From Atlan (1974)

We're surrounded by love. There will indeed, always be love. Yes, it sometimes takes a journey to find it, but it is there.

I am fortunate to have had the love of many friends, family, to have not one great love, but three.

Yes, it is possible to love, and attain love. But not always, an easy path. Humanity's greatest challenges can indeed come from relationships, and we have all had that period of great challenge come to us since 2007.

But here's how you find love. You don't look for it, it just..comes.

There is the love the heart knows.

There is the love that comes from just giving.

And for all of you, there is love...

The Quality Of Mercy

The Gentle Snow

I've been focused so much over the last many years about justice, about karma. I warned people about what the future might bring, they didn't listen, and, things happened. Never mind. Disasters kept happening and that still might or might not make a difference, nor personal calamity nor illness and even death, that might not  be enough to change you, just, the endless cycle of birth and rebirth that is everyone's lot. Even as I tried to help so many people who were close to me, I realized that I could not make them believe, if they were not ready.

But over the holidays, I came to stop trying so hard, for no matter how much I know this, it still is my nature to try and help. Yet, when I decided to let go, this is what came to me. The day after Christmas,  gentle snow began to fall, and I was reminded of the following  lines:

The quality of mercy is not strained.
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed:
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes.
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest. It becomes
The thronèd monarch better than his crown.
His scepter shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings,
But mercy is above this sceptered sway.
It is enthronèd in the hearts of kings.
It is an attribute to God himself.

The Merchant of Venice
William Shakespeare
Act 4, Scene 1

Know this: all you have to do is ask, and someone will hear your prayers. To all the people I have helped, and will continue to help, the quality of mercy, is not strained.

The Transit of Love

I am the Lord of the Morning

In the next day or so we will be observing the transit of Venus across the face of the Sun, which will surely be the beginning of more stirrings around the world, and, within us.

Do the planets influence us? No, but I believe that God influences the planets. They are signs, except for those who cannot see.

The rare double transit of Venus takes place June 05-06, 2012, then will not appear again until the year 2117. This transit will be visible in Western Australia and the Pacific Ocean throughout, then Northwestern America and the Arctic at sunset, then the U.K., Europe and the Middle East from sunrise on. That, truly, is the Lord of the Morning I referred to, and is closely connected to the Mayan Venus calendar cycle that ends this year.

I am glad I had the chance to teach and set up healing centers in all those places during my time. I am glad to send one person to Italy, where I had placed so much focus, to be a healer there this fall. I am sorry to say, though with much love, that there will be a great need of healing in the Muslim world soon; I will address that in my next article.

I was reminded recently about the great need for love in this world. How much easier it is to kill, and make war, and hate. How much harder it is to love, make love, and forgive. Yes, there must be justice and balance in the world, in the time to come. There must also, I believe, be compassion, and, not just to love, but to become love.

This is the greatest influence coming into the world today. That it will lead to a greater love across the planet, I already know. For a stranger to smile at me in a subway train, for the people of the present and the future, I wish them love.

There also are people from the past. Yes, I make a point of not looking back. Yes, I accept that people make their own choices, and move on for reasons that are right for them. Yet, somehow, they are the ones who keep being drawn back. The people we run into, the ones whose thoughts I pick up, they will always be welcome, as friends, or whatever they wish. And I say this with the deepest compassion, as I see them struggling with the burden of their karma. But, the choice is theirs.

The last time I saw the transit of Venus across the sun was in Devon, UK, June 08, 2004. we had a christening for a friend's one year old daughter, and she got an unexpected horse ride that appeared out of nowhere :) Then up we went to the top of the Beacon where last I saw the total eclipse of the Sun in 1999 which led to my reaching out to people through the website MAN FROM ATLAN . Now here I was again,  and it was er, interesting.

Starting out on a sunny day, it became bitterly cold as we got to the top. But the sun was still out and we had a chance to see the little dot start to pass in front of the sun. That was when the fog rolled in from out of nowhere, in waves and waves so we could barely see in front of us. I did a healing for the earth, and for the many people there. And I told them, to love one another. The fog started to clear as we made our way down...

That was when I resolved no matter how difficult the path ahead would be, I must work on my relationship and my family, and not let them be secondary to my work; the two must go together. Yet this also was a period when I gathered disciples to me, and did so much of my spiritual work. But I never lost that focus afterwards.

But, you see, the 2004 transit of Venus was about personal love. This year's transit is about Universal Love. It is the harbinger of the end of the 25,000 year Mayan cycle, based on the planet Venus. Without arguing about the exact date that is supposed to happen, let's just prepare for the end of this year.

There have been gruesome deaths and killings across the world since the last time I wrote. Aside from the deaths in the Middle East, there was a murder in Montreal where a psychotic man killed another man, ate his flesh and videotaped it, and then dismembered the body and shipped body parts to the prime minister's office. Then I went to see a movie last week and a nearby shooting at a shopping mall resulted in eight people being shot, one killed. An increase in criminal, psychotic behaviour, and some of that from our very own 'world leaders', many of whom are in my opinion, just as psychotic. Again, very sad. Yet, the fact is the cannibal from Montreal was caught in Berlin, and the Toronto Eaton Centre shooter was also apprehended and charged. So, no matter who you are, karma does catch up with you.

Whatever I say, I do with love. Now is the time to choose your direction. You can chose to follow a spiritual path, or you can choose a path of fear. Yes, we are starved for love, but do not know how surrounded by love we really are. If that love is missing in our lives, it is because we do not love ourselves enough. I give love, and receive it, in abundance. And so, too, can you.

There is so much beauty in the world, yet we are islands isolated from each other.

But yesterday, I was drawn to a store, and there was a bracelet there, inscribed with a verse I had given to my wife when I first met her many years ago:

And now these things remain:
faith, hope and love.
And the greatest of these is love.

Yearning For Connection

The yearning for connection exists inside us all

I know this inventor, a very logical person. He makes geological devices that can locate oil and gold, his ancient Jaguar gets 30 miles to the gallon.

He asked me what my 'religion' was. I said, "it's about finding our connection with God". He understood immediately.

Yes, we search for connection, not only with God, but also through lovers, children, family, friends, groups. In these eventful times, learning how to connect with others will help us all.

Finding God is easy. He always existed, inside and outside ourselves, and once you find that person, that force, you will never be alone. Just don't demand miracles, or proof.

We yearn for completion with and through our loved ones, but also, that connection with another being to share our lives with. Much healing has to take place first and afterwards, but it's possible to truly find love, and to experience the joy of being connected with that person, in all the ups and downs, forever.

Some people are dog persons or cat persons. I am a child person. Because I see that sheer joy and unsullied hope, optimism for the future, their fearlessness, in them, the potential: I love them very much. And, I try to be like them.

We first learn about connections through family, and hopefully, in what we provide as a learning space about relationships, for siblings, for parents, and between each other, we can create strong future families, that amazing unit of inter-connectedness. Regardless of whatever our own families were like.

Our friends are a reflection of us yet also separate beings, and the intellectual, emotional, and physical comradeship, interaction and support is also, about connection. They come and they go, and as long as we don't cross certain boundaries, then we won't be disappointed or hurt.

You have to learn how to connect with yourself. Your connection with your physical emotional and spiritual bodies are so tattered that it is no wonder you may have issues with health, relationships or God. Healing that helps you to integrate with yourself, and then and only then can you love yourself, by feeling connected instead of disconnected. Do you ever feel, gee, I LOVE myself?

And lastly, there is this amazing group of healers all over the planet, who I will introduce in a subsequent post.

How to Heal your Heart

On this special Christmas Day 2007, I'd like to offer this to all of you, something I first wrote in 2001. The years ahead will be very difficult, but, I want to offer this message of love.

"Where is there love in this world?" I overheard a kitchen helper ask another in Toronto. A friend told me about her husband who could not love himself. A third is grieving over the end of a relationship. Now would be a good time, I think, to ask the question, is there love in the world, and how do we heal our broken hearts?

When I wrote 'Man From Atlan' in 1974 I saw that humanity's greatest challenges would come through its relationships: our relationships with each other, and our relationships with ourselves.

I met my Soul mate in 1974. There was this recognition that spanned several lifetimes, and I saw our previous lives together unfold like a movie. I saw the Soul mate as the greatest and most difficult of all karmic relationships. There could be great love, also great pain. And all relationships could be expressed in terms of karma and energy.

I don't believe in karma as punishment now, but then, in 1974, I did.

Karma doesn't even have to do with past lives, but the lesson that must be learned. And each person we connect with is the lesson we must learn, as we, too, are the lesson they must learn.

And when the lesson has been learned, the relationship changes, or ends.

My greatest lesson wasn't born of guilt, atonement, or the failures of the past. I'd learned to forgive myself, after all. The greatest lesson was what I had denied to myself, that I was a healer. And once I learned that, from my mate and then my children, I could heal others and myself.

Where is there love? First, why do we need love? I see the need for love as the need for balance, born of the divided soul of God. God is divided between the male and female energies, opposites and therefore there is no resolution.

The balance may be found through the third energy, that of the child. The feet are the Black Chakra, of the feminine energy of God. The White Chakra over the head is the masculine energy of God. And the Heart Chakra is the Child's energy, the balancer. What may be found in the Heart Chakra? Here is Artistry and Creativity, Healing, Relationships, Jesus, Compassion, and Love.

All or any of these are ways in which we may find balance, and to heal the heart, we must express all the things of the heart. The Sky God and Mother Earth made love and produced the race of humanity, who are the Children, and through the Child's energy of God is God healed and made whole.

So express your artistry and your healing and your love for others for are we not all the children of God, as well as your love for yourself for are you also not a child of God?

And do not say that you do not know, or never have known, love. You contain and are surrounded by an infinite reservoir of love; therefore it is always within you and outside of you. And when you love yourself, you will find love.

And the Soul mate is not the greatest love any more; the Spirit Mate is. You become the Spirit Mate of all when you realize that you can love all, equally, not a love that is born of ego or desire or need for completion, but friendship and compassion and love, for when you become love, then and only then can you find love.
And without love, how can you find peace?

The Pink Chakra

This is part of the Introduction to Spiritual Healing manual, but I am including it as a follow up to the article, "How to Heal your Heart".

When I started my spiritual healing practice I only worked with the 7 chakras because that was what I had read about.

Then I thought, Why are we ignoring the feet? and the answer was because it connects us to:
The Feminine, I've spoken about the thousands of years of suppression of the feminine energy of God and the development of a masculine language; even I have written of God as He.

The Material/Physical, and we've created an imbalance there as well. Where does our wealth and physical well being come from? The Earth, and if we've suppressed and exploited it then no wonder we're suffering the effects of financial difficulty and ill health. Look around you; the Earth is no longer able to nurture us.

Karma and responsibility, and we are afraid of it. Why do we suffer and why is life an ever-lasting struggle? Yet, there is a point when all the threads of our karma come together and that is around the time of conception, which memory is buried in what I call the Black, or Grounding Chakra. When an important memory such as that is forgotten, it creates an imbalance in all the other chakras, which cannot be healed without coming to terms with karma.

The answer lies within the Pink Chakra of Dharma. The Heart Chakra is incomplete, as it is no longer integrated with what I call the Higher Heart Chakra. (That name was suggested by one of my students, I like it)

The higher heart is located over the thymus gland. Oils such as tuna, salmon, cod, olive, all the essential fatty acids and the saturated oils such as coconut and palm feed its physical aspect. The spiritual action involved in nurturing it is to find your purpose in life, and follow your sacred path. And from the soul level, until you understand your karma and your higher heart, your heart chakra remains empty, and balancing your masculine and feminine energies is impossible.

The human race has come to a point where it must come to terms with its collective Karma by embracing its Dharma, and the answer lies within the Green Chakra of the Heart and the Pink Chakra of the Higher Heart.
